- 10 years of providing television presentation on the Internet
Despite the growth of TV Ark, The Ident Gallery, YouTube, and the falling of
TV Room, TV Home & TV World, t|v|a has now reached the 10 year milestone.
Thank you to all that have supported either by providing videos of television
presentation, or by viewing the site over the past 10 years.
As a thank you, two new main sections have gone live today,
ITV Millennium charts the abandoned set
of GMG idents celebrating the arrival of a new Millennium which would have been
used merely 2 months before t|v|a went live.
Secondly, MTV is to celebrate 30 years of broadcasting next
year. So with a logo change imminent, t|v|a looks back at MTV's idents
over the past 30 years.
Thank you once again for supporting t|v|a over the past 10
years, there are still many gems of television presentation from all the ITV
stations that have closed over the years that have never been seen on the
Internet. They'll be lurking in viewers attics on the old VHS or Betamax.
Dig them out, and view them again just to remind yourself how good television
used to be. Here's to the next 10 years!

- Nearly 10 years
The final preparations are being made to celebrate t|v|a into a
second decade of showcasing British television presentation. The aim of
the site remains as strong today as it always has done, to allow a historical
archive of television presentation to be made available for all to reminisce,
remember and research; cementing the history of ITV, C4 & C5 for now & the
future.
The site really found its niche in the launch of
digital:satellite in February 2001, and still to this day is the only site to
offer every digital channel's television presentation offerings, with the added
bonus of being able to offer every digital channel's offering over the past 10
years. Those that remember the high-profile channels such as
UK Play,
Tara TV,
BBC Choice,
whereits.at (is their old studio's still signed up at the Trocadero?!) and
Granada Plus. You can still re-live the presentation of those
channels, along with the history of ITV, C4 & C5.
It's with great disappointment that we are not likely to be
re-hosting content from the imminent closure of The TV Room. Addition of
this content to the extensive 1700+ videos available through t|v|a would have
made one of our original objectives complete, the completion of the ITV archive.
It is with regret that Mike has made the difficult choice to close down the
availability of the site so imminently. The TV Room was and still is up
there in the ranks of TV Ark & TV Home as being notorious for popularity & rich
with relatively unseen content. In recent years, it's content has moved
away from offering videos to view to an image resource. However, The TV
Room's main assets moved to The TV Room+, an ITV2 version of the main site,
offering more behind-the-scenes views. Good luck to Mike McGonagle, and
Martin Anderson who provided site design in recent years, and most noteably the
television station fonts downloaded, and thank you guys.

- RTÉ, UTV & ITV Generic 1999 Unused ... RTÉ coming tonight 11/8/09
Coming soon to t|v|a, the arrival of RTÉ in the form of idents
from 1999. Also from 1999, UTV gets a minor update and the main update will be
the release of previously un-published ITV Generic 1999 Hearts idents.
These idents are the full length v2 ident package that was dropped before the v3
we all know and have seen. The idents are complete with ITV endboard as opposed
to regional versions. You may have seen regional variants on The Continuity
Booth or YouTube. These will also be full length versions with one containing a
VT clock.
