YTV commissioned what appeared to be the most regional set of idents ever made by an ITV company. If you could "regionalise" local idents what would you do? 40 location idents were made filming the surroundings of Yorkshire towns & cities. All the video downloads on this page contain consistent imagery...
Firstly, the customary VT clock, displaying the title, identID, and date of production. Secondly, the ident starts. There were two versions available for YTV staff to use, one with an 8 second formup (as identified as part of the identID; the example above showing Y-Indus8, the 8 being the duration for continuity to wait before announcement). The second version is a pre-formed version, resolved to its final state.
Thirdly, the animation disappears after 20 seconds, with the music bed continuing for another 10 seconds after. These copies were specially made for training purposes where the blackout identifies the point where the announcement should have finished (with the programme "butting in" to the video).
In addition to the multiple versions of towns & cities above, smaller towns were also recognised, with multiple landmarks being displayed. Sleaford Wakefield Newark-on-Trent Boston Bridlington York Halifax Cleethorpes Harrogate Skegness Huddersfield Pontefract Worksop Whitby Ripon
In addition to the separate towns, combined versions of towns represented earlier were also produced. Gainsborough, Caistor, Louth Fountains Abbey, North Yorkshire Skipton, Otley, Ilkley Boston, Sleaford and Newark-on-Trent
Finally, some more general versions away from the towns & cities theme. This time we have a general "industrial" ident (away from the similar 1999 Generic ITV ident at that time). We also have some "busy" people in town, and a local legend (any guesses at a name?)
